The Perfect Summer ‘Staycation’ At The George Hotel

Whilst we would all like to get away this Summer after a year and a half or little to no travel, the restrictions surrounding European and further-afield getaways can make it difficult to do so, especially if you are travelling with children. Luckily, The George Hotel are on hand to host the perfect Summer retreat.

Situated in an area full of charm, guests will find an abundance of things to do on their doorstep. The George Hotel has sat proudly on Colchester High Street for over 500 years and the hotel itself, as well as the local area, is steeped in history. The Colchester Castle is just a two minute walk away from the hotel, whilst Colchester Zoo and Beth Chatto Gardens are a mere fifteen minutes away. For the ultimate Summer staycation, guests should travel slightly further afield and marvel at the Stunning Essex coastline – a perfect day out for both adults and children alike.

After a busy day, guests can enjoy the lavish amenities of The George Hotel. The hotel has recently undergone a £10 million refurbishment, and features eight deluxe suites, as well as heritage double and twin rooms, as well as rooms suitable for singles. The suites are perfect for a luxury break; featuring comfortable beds, smart TVs, Bang & Olufsen sound systems and coffee machines.

The Secret Courtyard will transport visitors of the hotel to an exotic destination, with an undercover heated lounge area (to protect from the oh-so-unpredictable British weather), featuring Morrocan touches, lanterns and lemon trees. The Courtyard is the perfect place for a post-stroll tipple, serving up a variety of fresh cocktails, draught beers, ales and wines. For dinner, guests should opt for 8oz chapel smokehouse fillet steak alongside truffle and parmesan fries, followed by the rum roasted pineapple carpaccio. There are also vegan and children menus on offer.

The George Hotel are currently offering guests the opportunity to extend their stay by up to two nights for no extra cost, when they book an extended staycation directly with The George.
